God has gifted me with an interesting sense of smell. I tend to pick smells (if there's such a word) very fast, even from a long distance. With that, comes my love for anything that smells nice.
I'm all about scents...... I love them!
I prefer them mild and strong at the same time; mild, so they don't trigger allergies, and strong in terms of lingering on hours after.
I am one of the few women I know, who feel nothing for shopping sprees, I don't like shopping! I'm the kind of person who'll walk into a supermarket, pick what I need, pay for it and walk out without checking out anything else. However, buying lotion, shower gel, roll on, body splash, perfume, air freshener, hand wash, bathing soap, washing detergent (yes detergent!) etc. is usually a bit of a process. You see they have to smell right. Anything that goes on my clothes, skin and hair has to smell right. Those of you who know me you know I smell good! :-)
May God give me a man who shares my love for beautiful scents :-) :-) :-)
A story is told of this woman, who was known as a wicked sinner. She went out and bought expensive perfume and poured it out on Jesus' feet in worship. Worship is all she could give to this loving man Jesus. For her to do this there must have been a revelation that she had gotten about Jesus and the only thing she could do for the love gift she had received, that she didn't deserve, was this. She didn't care who was around or what they were saying, as far as that room was concerned; Jesus was the only person in the room. (Luke 7:37-50) The people with Jesus at the time complained of her wastage of expensive perfume but guess what? She was the only person who left that place wearing the same fragrance as Jesus!
Your intimate relationship with God should do that. It should leave you wearing the same scent as Him. People should be able to tell that you've been with God.
Now when they saw the boldness and unfettered eloquence of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and untrained in the schools [common men with no educational advantages], they marveled; and they recognized that they had been with Jesus.
Acts 4:13(AMP)
The bible calls us the light & salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13-16). But without spending time with God, our light cannot be seen and neither can our saltiness be tasted. Spending time with God is not about just going to church, having routine prayer times and doing a few good deeds. This is like wearing fake Channel or Escada and thinking you're wearing the real deal. Or thinking that you're the one exuding the sweet fragrance, only to find out that the scent is coming from people who've invested themselves in God.
Rich Wilkerson Jr says "The saddest thing as a christian is to think you're on fire for God when in actual sense what you're experiencing is the heat from everyone else around you; People who've invested themselves in God and are on fire. Feeling heat does not necessarily indicate the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in you."
To exude the fire of God (Laser beam fire)/ to exude God's fragrance you need to build
intimacy with God!
When people meet with you, can they pick God's scent on you? Can people you work/live/interact with smell the fragrance that comes from spending time with God, or are you stinking up the place with fake scents?
Your blog totally blesses me and i can relate to your stories on so many level. It also makes me take a harder look at my walk with God. May He help us to always create time for Him and that way, we will intimately know Him.
