Are
you caught up in a season where you feel like you’re in limbo? Where God seems
to have gone on vacation and all your prayers seem to be bouncing back to you
unanswered? A season where you feel clueless about what direction to take? Well,
read on to see how you can get back in motion.
God
is a God of order. And with that said, I’ll have you know that He doesn’t fill
our to do list with a zillion things. He gives us one thing at a time.
Was
listening to Pastor John Courson on Tuesday. Well, I wasn’t listening, the
radio was tuned in to hope Fm and I happened to be in the living room doing a
few chores. He was teaching on the story of Moses and how God would instruct
Him on what to tell Pharaoh, and on the miraculous signs he was to perform per
time. God had the ability to give Moses all the instructions at one go, but He
didn’t. Why? Because God is not about bamboozling us with information; He is
about pursuing a relationship with us. It is in the obedience of every
instruction that we learn more about Him, that we learn to walk by faith,
acquire more of His attributes and that we go deeper in Him.
I
remember when God asked me to quit my job in Dubai. Being the kind of person
who likes details on the sequence of what will happen, I would cry out to God
for more information on what I’d be coming back to Kenya for, but He wouldn’t
give me any. It was after landing in Kenya and being here a few days, that He
told me what was next (joining school of ministry) - read my blog ‘God’s got jokes’ for details.
A
few weeks ago I received a specific amount of money. I sought God on what to do
with it (I usually seek God on everything), and He gave me a breakdown on what
to do with the money. I did all, apart from one that required I take the
remaining specific amount of that money somewhere. Doing that would then mean I’m
left with no money and I really wanted to use it for something else. I figured
I would take an even bigger amount to this last place, when I got money. On
Tuesday, I was praying in the spirit as I went about doing my morning chores,
as Pastor John preached away on hope Fm. I was specifically praying for finances.
When I finally sat down to do my bible study, that day’s study related to what
Pastor John Courson had been preaching about. I heard God remind me about the
amount of money He had told me about. It’s as if I’d kept the money as some
sort of security and didn’t trust Him to provide for me. I showered, dressed up
and left the house to take the money where God had asked me to.
Obeying
God comes with its benefits. On Thursday evening, I walked into a supermarket
to buy a few things. While in the queue, the guy in front of me turned back and
asked “What is the total amount of the items in your basket?” In my head I thought
“Why do you want to know?” but then I answered him politely. On reaching the
cashier, he held out an amount of money and said “deduct my stuff and her stuff
from this”. He then turned to me and said “My name is Apostle X (not at liberty
to disclose his name), tomorrow is dependent on the seeds we sow today.” He then
took his shopping and walked away. I was left speechless! I then heard God
remind me of the seed of obedience that I’d sown on Tuesday. He also reminded
me that He was able to take care of me, and that he honored steps of obedience.
Anytime we obey God, awesome things happen! Am now excitedly waiting for the
next instruction and will not procrastinate.
Sometime
this year, my friend Sherri Lewis (www.sherrilewis.com),
said something to me that didn’t make sense to me then. She told me “Loise
sometime we spend/waste a lot of time waiting on God to do something while He is actually waiting on
you!” and I kept thinking "Waiting on me to do what?"
In
his preaching John Courson went on to
say that when we sometimes find ourselves in a period of stagnation, or a
period when God seems silent, it’s simply because we didn’t do the last thing
that God asked us to do. Hence God is waiting on you to do that thing, so that
He can give you the next instruction, but you are waiting on God to do
something!
What
is the last thing God asked you to do:
sow a seed? walk away from a relationship or business deal? enroll for the outreach department in your church? speak to a specific someone? quit pursuing a specific something? speak out about something at work? start doing a specific something? etc.....
Have you done it? if your answer is No, you now know why you life's been in limbo. How well you do that task will determine the next, kinda like a domino effect. Go back and do the last thing God asked you to do!
that is very true.......Hmm you got me to think abt so many things.
