My baby siz and her fiancé got a baby in June, and with my
love for children, I have been a frequent visitor at their house. Spending time
with my sweet nephew has been awesome. That boy just warms my heart with his
cute smiles, giggles, baby chats, how he drools all over my face and clothes
and how he tugs at my hair and earrings. He's just the cutest! I have a zillion
pictures and a few video clips of him on my phone. Every time I review them I
can't help smiling.
Whenever he's sleepy, hungry or having any discomfort he
prefers being in his mums' arms. According to him, mummy understands him best
and has a solution for anything that life would think of throwing at him. In
her arms he feels happy, loved and safe, and you can tell by how he behaves when
with her or even when she's in the room and someone else is holding him. It's
like it’s just him and his mummy in this whole world....
3 fellow ministers and I will next week be ministering to
some of the key influencers in the creative industry in Kenya. We began
preparing for this event somewhere around June, and it’s been an interesting
journey, where God has taught us a lot. We've faced quite a few challenges too,
as we try to ensure that everything is in God's standard of excellence. In one
of those seasons when we'd hit an impasse, God reminded me of my nephew.
Baby Yohann never worries/thinks about where his food,
diapers, shelter, clothes, security, medical cover etc will come from. He's not
even aware of the tax increase or whatever state the economy is. He has left
that for the parents to worry about. His is to just be him, a baby.
And this is what God told us as a team, that He is our
father, and we should be like my sweet nephew in his mother’s arms. We should
live from that reality and allow Him to take care of us, provide for us, direct
us, protect us etc because that is His work, and ours is to be what he has
called us to be..... His children.
Many are the times we wear ourselves down with issues on
finances, health, security, relationships, politics etc and ended up with fear,
timidity, disappointment, anxiety, stress & depression - failing to live
the abundant life that we have been called to live in God. He has a zillion
promises for us, and He wants you and I to enter into that place of rest, by
completely putting our trust in Him, so that we can enjoy these promises.
We usually lift our hands and sing 'ALL to Jesus I
surrender..... I surrender ALL'
But do we really? Or should the song be like ‘I surrender
some….’
Today God is calling you and I to trust Him to provide; to
trust Him to give us ideas that will bring about transformation in all we touch
to do; trust Him to cut off whatever may cause us to waste our lives; to trust
that His plan, and timing for that plan is the best; to trust Him with our
hearts in the matters of relationships - that He'll heal every wound, and that
He knows who should and shouldn't be in our lives - and that His choice of a
spouse for us is the best; to trust that by faith when we jump off the cliff of
our comfort zone, He will not let us hit the ground, but will cause us to soar
like eagles....... TRUST HIM, JUST LIKE A BABY trusts his mother.
God says that we live by EVERY word that comes from His
mouth (Matthew 4:4). Here are some of those words.... (Replace 'us' with 'me')
Has He not said that He'll NEVER leave, disappoint us or
put us to shame? (Hebrews 13:5, Isaiah 49:23, 54:4, Psalms 25:3)
Has He not said His plan is to give us hope and a future?
(Jeremiah 29:11)
Has He not said that no weapon fashioned against us shall
prosper? (Isaiah 54:17)
Has He not said that NOTHING can/will ever separate us from
His love? (Romans 8:38-39)
Has He not said I WILL BE WITH YOU ALWAYS? (Matthew 28:20)
Has He not said that we have a right to live in peace and
wholeness by virtue of Christ's death and resurrection? (Isaiah 53:3-5)
Has He not commanded us to be bold & courageous? (Joshua
1:9)
Has He not promised to provide for our every need? (Philippians
4:19, 2 Corinthians 9:11)
Has He not promised to teach us EVERYTHING? (John 14:26, 1 John
2:27)
Has He not commanded us to STOP WORRYING? (Matthew 6:25-34)
And Hasn't He said that His word accomplishes what He has
sent it to do? (Isaiah 55:10-11)
